Existem.com updated

In between developing affiliates4u version 2 with Nick and working hard on getting a4uAwards looking suave I’ve been busy giving existem.com a face lift and a better use of user integration all round.

The site is run totally from version 2.5 of wordpress and its fair to say we are all pretty happy with it.

Some nice new additions include twitter updates, user gravatars and dynamic body background images for each section.

The site is compliment in the big 3 (MSIE 7, Firefox and Safari), not sure on how MSIE 6 and below will handle it yet but its on my to-do list for the coming weeks.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated, either on this blog or, if your attending a4uAwards tonight, feel free to bend my ear.

Matt - congrats on the new look. I just wanted to let you know that the scrolling is a bit juddery in IE7.

Thanks for that, i’ll have a look into it asap :)

Turns out its a PNG transpareny issue, IE7 can render them properlly but goes rather nuts when there are alot of them on a page, especially when the repeat both on the x and y axis.

As a result IE won’t have the lovely transparency on the boxes as firefox/safari does, sorts out the scrolling issue to some extent though

Looks very nice, I like it!
Just to let you know, in IE6 the sidebar spills over the footer and doesn’t render properly once below it. Also the little pictures next to the categories don’t appear. Obviously I don’t think many peeps use IE6 anymore, I only have it on this machine because I couldn’t upgrade to IE7 for some reason.
Oh, and ‘replys’ is actually ‘replies’ ;)

Cheers phil, i had to use a IE6 render thingy on the web as i have Vista here (meaning I cant run the euloas to test IE6) and unfortunately the web renderer only shows the top half of the page so wasn’t aware of the footer issue. I’ll look into fixing this asap.

The little icons disappear as they are added in using css attribute selectors and IE6 doesn’t support them.

Cheers for the typo spot too!

Should degrade nicely into IE6 now, just needed to sort out the sticky footer and give “hasLayout” to a few elements, please comment if you see any more major bugs
