Printable Vouchers – Twitter Baby! @vouchers

Printable Vouchers – Twitter Baby! @vouchers

As a distraction to finalising the agenda for our upcoming conference (for which 30 sessions have been confirmed)  we’ve just started a twitter account which will display the latest printable voucher codes available for download from across the web.vprintable voucher codes

Our mission is to get over 500 followers by the 1st April - we may fail, we may beat that target - either way it will be an interesting journey to see how social media and twitter specifically could be used by affiliates.

Rather than concentrating on the online voucher codes we’ll start with printable voucher codes only - these seem to revolve around bars, retailers and restaurants who are eager to attract more footfall through the door in these difficult times.

Why not follow us over at http://twitter.com/vouchers -

Will we do it? and whats your view on whether it’s against the Twitter ethic?

Guess I’ll start the ball rolling Matt.

I think it will work if we keep the ‘signal to noise’ ratio fairly high & aren’t firing out blocks of tweets in quick succession. It’s certainly a transparent approach and, as always, it’s opt in/opt-out.

Might be a good idea to #hashtag everything so it’s findable, I think that approach has been fairly well adopted now.

I can see potential for some nice mash-ups too.

Good points Pete - After an initial tweet burst I’d imagine we’d reach saturation and then add just a couple of vouchers each day.

Hopefully that’s not too excessive for our followers - good point on the hashtags - will start adding these to the tweets.

    p.s where’s the background ;)

Personally I dont think its against the ethics, and thats why I created a Twitter channel only 10 days ago for my voucher site - http://twitter.com/discounts4u

Are you after 500 members joining up, or 500 other voucher code sites joining up to ensure they never miss a deal? Also what was the idea of only pushing printable vouchers via twitter?

    Hi Frostie,

It’s just an experiment to see if twitter can be used in this way. If its a success then maybe we’ll expand the concept.

We’ve chosen printable vouchers as it reduces the noise around the tweets, it’s also less competitive.

I was not aware of your twitter account on the subject but it appears to be highlighting everything from free delivery to discount codes, this is something very different.

are you after 500 members joining up, or 500 other voucher code sites joining up to ensure they never miss a deal?”

This may well be the case but we cant stop that from happening!

First of all, well done for getting the ‘vouchers’ Twitter URL. As for the ‘is it ethical’ debate: I personally think it’s fine, as long as you make it clear that it’s a purely commercial channel and not a personal one (as you have done). I’ve got to say, however, that I don’t like your constant “Hey, you can find the latest Strada Restaurant Printable Vouchers @vouchers, hope its useful! :-)” tweets at people; that kind of thing certainly is against the Twitter ethos in my opinion. Think you should read Kieron’s recent post on making it a bit more personal. Picture of the Queen is highly disturbing, too!

    Hi Tom,

Totally agree with the automated twitter searcher, we trialled it out for a few hours and were amazed how many people we found. I still think its a viable option but you need to manually validate each find and ensure it’s relevant. We did find some people who were genuinely thankful however also some who did not like its spammy nature.
