VoucherCodes.at – Launches
We’re going to be launching a couple of new websites in the coming weeks. The first offers consumers the ability to effortlessly discover new and money saving voucher codes and deals from a number of big brand and niche retailers.

Granted it’s similar to many others in the space, however we hope its simple and easy to use design will be a winner.
We’ll see how Google treats the .at domain in the coming weeks, however early results appear to be positive.
We’re using some of the technology and learning curve to launch a second and I must say rather exciting site in mid December 2008 - watch this space for details!
Big kudos to Darian Moody who joined us recently who has coded up the site and Pete who’s put together the rather funky background and general design - also thanks must go to Doug for allowing us to use his Voucher Code XML feed (and in return be a pain in the rear with bug testing!)

I’m going to be very interested in seeing how you do with a .at domain name in a competetive arena. I’ve got http://www.insurancequote.at but haven’t yet developed it as I’m anticipating strong barriers on this one.
Are you planning to do anything specific to cope with the .at aspect or is it just business as usual?
Hi Gadget, the site’s hosted in the UK and we’ll be looking at getting lot of UK based inbound links to the site. Hopefully this will counter any negative affect of the country specific domain. If all else fails we’ll launch something on a new domain, but we felt it was worth the risk.
Interesting that you’ve gone for a .at domain, personally wouldnt have, i’d have bought up a .co.uk with a bit of ages, something short and sweet with the keywords in it…such as govouchercodes.co.uk which coincidently I have for sale ;)
interesting using .at …of course you can always set the geo preference to UK in google webmaster central - that might help a little?
Really like the layout by the way ..nice job
Nice looking site but not displaying well in Firefox 2 for me.
Hi Max, you could convince me give me a mail on matthew at’ existem.com with a sensible price and we can maybe run a test :-)
Thanks for the tip John and Ash you need to upgrade mate ;) but good point firefox 2 is still used - I’ll get our designer to reply.
@John
Hi John :-) I registered a .es domain recently and went into Google Webmaster tools expecting to do exactly that, and set the geo preference to UK. As far as I could tell, the option is disabled on TLDs that are country codes. I guess the logic is that the geo-preference in those cases is automatically set by the nature of the TLD. So I think that option is only available on TLDs where the country preference could be more ambigous such as .com, .net, .org etc.
@ ash, Yea, we’re aware of Firefox 2 issue. Unfortunately, (and correct me on this if I’m wrong) it’s not actually that easy to target both FF3 and FF2 and we made a decision as to be as forward-progressive as we can with css/xhtml.
As a result firefox 2 gets lost in the cull which is a shame, but without running a javascript detect and css specific styles just for FF2 it’s a bug that we have to live with right now.
@Rob
bugger, yes you’re right of course!
@Pete
I don’t think its that difficult to be compatible with both FF2 and FF3, although i’ve not looked at your code to see what might be causing the issue.
Magic Matt have fun
