My employer sits on several similar domains, so ideas welcome.

Where they have had a life before we usually just use the registrars parked pages system, we don't share much of the revenue, but then it is mostly money for domains canceled by customers that are sitting waiting to expire, and it does help offset the cost of domains slightly. I was quite surprised at the sums involved given most of the domains got practically no traffic, these automated advert pages generate revenue well, I guess it is the old adage about pages with no or poor content have a high click through rate on the ads, because the ads are more interesting....

But yes, they have southwest.co.uk southeast.co.uk, which ought find some sort of regional directory service (I think they were originally bought for that).

Hi Jason,

you're right, its not a niche, its very general and it uninspiring, but there must be something we can do with it as a quick win, anything is better than it sitting with an outdated holding page.

Put it in the bin and concentrate on other things?

I think a generic shopping site requires a lot of time, effort, and development - not just to get started but to become established. Your time/efforts may well be better spent working on something more focussed.

The domain (imo) is also pretty uninspiring - but that's just my view.
